What is the Church of God?

The Church of God with general offices in Anderson, Indiana is a fellowship of Christian people who are endeavoring to live up to the name they bear. Born in the 1880’s, this movement had as its heartbeat the restoration of the principles and practices of the New Testament Church among all believers.

"With no intent of being “another denomination”, the movement breathes the vision of uniting all Christians everywhere into the oneness of Christ.  To do this, the Church of God endeavors to take a position of openness on the God-ward side to all truth, and openness on the man-ward side to fellowship with all God’s people everywhere.  We believe the Church is not an organization you join, but a fellowship of persons who, by being saved, have become members of the family of God.

"So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved". Acts 2:46-47

Therefore, the Church of God is an open fellowship to all who have joined themselves to God.  A slogan often used is “where salvation experience makes you a member.”  There is no rite of church joining but rather an experience of fellowship with those who are in Christ.  We have no creed but Christ and no book of authority in matters of Christian faith and practice but the Bible.
